How long does a wild turkey need to be in incubation?

Wild turkeys typically have an incubation period of 26 to 28 days. During this time, the female turkey, or "hen", will sit on the eggs to keep them warm and protect them from predators. The hen will only leave the nest for short periods of time to eat and drink. Once the eggs hatch, the poults will stay with their mother for several months, learning how to feed and survive in the wild.
