  1. How to Keep Crows out of a Chicken Coop

    • 1

Take your bird feeder and hang it next to your chicken coop in a position where it will not hinder your chickens' access to their coop, but at the same time stay in close proximity. One idea is to locate your bird feeder on the back roof of your coop.

    • 2

Fill your bird feeder with birdseed and attract the crows to it by placing corncobs around the feeder. By doing this you will attract the crows to your bird feeder and away from your chicken eggs, which are what the crows are targeting. Rather than scrounge for eggs, the crows will learn to go to the feeder for food, which is a much tastier and easier food source than fighting your chickens for their eggs. This encourages the crows to stay out of your coop (any single curious ones will be chased off by your chickens).

Fill your bird feeder regularly to keep the crows in your yard rather than scare them away. Crows in your yard do more good than harm as they scare off and chase much more serious predators such as hawks and foxes from your chicken coop. With your bird feeder on your coop, your coop will become an extension of the crows' territory, and they will guard it from any serious threats to your chickens such as snakes, foxes and hawks.
