Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a commercial budgie or small parrot mix with safflower and sunflower seeds. King parrots also feed on the seeds of eucalyptus, angophora and acacia plants. Soak ½ cup of seeds in water overnight and include it in the parrot's next day feeding.

    • 2

Add a variety of leafy vegetables, fruits and beans to the parrot's daily diet. This can include spinach, silver beets, endives, corn, celery, apples and mung beans. Rinse produce thoroughly to ensure pesticides are washed away. Soak mung beans in ½ cup of water overnight.

    • 3

Sprinkle calcium powder over produce three times a week to prevent calcium deficiency in young king parrots.

    • 4

Add three almonds to the parrot's daily diet along with tiny pieces of multigrain bread.
