How to Clean Your Budgie's Cage
Remove your budgie from its cage. Place it in a clean extra cage or in a room supervised by an adult.
Empty your birds' water and food bowls. Using a dish towel, wash both bowls with soap and water. Dry the bowls and refill with fresh water and food. Perform this step daily.
Scrub perches, swings and any bird toys with a nontoxic cleanser and toothbrush. Use the toothbrush to clean any feces or dirt on the inner and outer sides of the cage. This needs to be done at least once a week.
Remove newspaper or paper towels from the bottom of the cage and discard. If any feces or seed debris is visible on the bottom of the cage, remove with a paper towel. Reline the bottom of your budgie's cage with clean newspaper or paper towels. Perform this task at least once a week.
