Things You'll Need
- Basket
- Shoebox
- Paper towel
- Grapes or watermelon
- Dog food, raw kidney or liver
Instructions
Search around the area where you found the bird for a nest. If you find one, carefully place the two day old bird into the nest. The parent birds will come back and care for their baby.
Place a basket in a tree if you do not find a nest. Put the bird in this makeshift nest and watch from a hiding place for one or both of the parent birds. If they are around, they have been watching you and will care for the bird. If you don't see them within 20 or 30 minutes, you must provide care for the bird.
Place the bird in a shoebox lined with paper towels and keep it in a warm place. Prepare food for the bird such as grapes and watermelon to hydrate it and canned dog food, raw kidney or liver for protein. Cut these items up into small pieces.
Feed the two day old bird every 20 minutes until sunset. Drop the food into its mouth with a popsicle stick or chopstick until it no longer holds its beak open. Handle the bird as little as possible.
