How much space does a parrot need?

Parrots need a spacious enclosure to comfortably move around, fly, and stretch their wings. The size of the enclosure depends on the species of parrot, but a good rule of thumb is to provide an enclosure that is at least 2-3 times the length of the parrot's wingspan in each dimension. For example, a parrot with a wingspan of 18 inches would need an enclosure that is at least 54 inches long, 54 inches wide, and 54 inches high.

In addition to the size of the enclosure, it is also important to consider the shape and layout. Parrots prefer rectangular or square enclosures, and they should have plenty of perches of different sizes and heights. The perches should be placed in different areas of the enclosure so that the parrot can move around easily and choose where to perch.

The enclosure should also have a variety of toys and activities to keep the parrot entertained and stimulated. Toys can include things like climbing ladders, swings, ropes, bells, and foraging toys. The parrot should have access to fresh water and food at all times.

Finally, the enclosure should be placed in a draft-free area of the home, away from direct sunlight. The temperature in the enclosure should be between 65 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and the humidity should be around 40-50%.
