The largest tit species is the Goliath Tit (Parus goliath), found in sub-Saharan Africa. It has an average length of around 18-20 centimeters (7-8 inches) and weighs between 45-60 grams (1.6-2.1 ounces).
Largest birds:
The largest extant bird species is the Ostrich (Struthio camelus), found in Africa. Ostriches can reach heights of up to 2.75 meters (9 feet) and weigh over 150 kilograms (330 pounds). The largest wingspan belongs to the Wandering Albatross (Diomedea exulans), which can reach up to 3.7 meters (12 feet) from wingtip to wingtip.
Extinct birds:
Some extinct bird species were even larger than the Ostrich. The extinct elephant birds, such as the Madagascan Elephant Bird (Aepyornis maximus), could reach heights of over 3 meters (10 feet) and weigh over 450 kilograms (1,000 pounds).
