Where does hihi stitch bird live?
Hihi stitchbird (Notiomystis cincta) is an endemic bird species to New Zealand. It is found primarily on three offshore islands: Little Barrier Island (Hauturu), Kapiti Island, and Tiritiri Matangi Island. In the past, hihi stitchbirds were more widespread and also inhabited the North Island of New Zealand. However, due to habitat loss, predators, and other factors, their population declined significantly, leading to their current restricted distribution. Conservation efforts have been undertaken to protect and restore hihi stitchbird populations on these islands.
