How much do wild turkeys usually weigh?

The weight of a wild turkey can vary depending on the subspecies and gender. On average, male wild turkeys (known as toms) weigh between 12 and 24 pounds, while female wild turkeys (known as hens) weigh between 8 and 18 pounds. The Eastern Wild Turkey, which is one of the most common subspecies in North America, typically weighs between 15 and 20 pounds for males and 8 to 12 pounds for females. Larger subspecies, such as the Merriam's Wild Turkey, can weigh up to 30 pounds for males and 18 pounds for females.

Keep in mind that these are general weight ranges, and individual wild turkeys can vary in size based on factors such as diet, habitat, and overall health.
