Do finches need an area outside their cage to fly?
Finches are active birds and need plenty of space to fly and exercise. They should be provided with a cage that is at least 3 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 2 feet tall. In addition, they should be allowed out of their cage for several hours each day so they can fly and stretch their wings. A large room or an outdoor aviary is ideal, but even a small space will do as long as it is safe and free of hazards.
