What bird ride on elephants and eat their ticks?

The bird that rides on elephants and eats their ticks is the oxpecker.

There are two species of oxpeckers, both found in Africa:

* Red-billed oxpecker (Buphagus erythrorhynchus)

* Yellow-billed oxpecker (Buphagus africanus)

While the term "rides" might be a bit of a stretch, they do often perch on the backs of elephants, as well as other large mammals like zebras, buffalo, and rhinoceros. They are attracted to the abundance of ticks and other parasites found on these animals, which they feed on. This symbiotic relationship benefits both the bird and the mammal.
