Instructions

    • 1

Create an inviting area. Birds enjoy areas where they feel protected and at ease. Add a bird bath or drinking area in the same vicinity as your bird feeder. Plenty of greenery and bird houses also attracts sparrows.

    • 2

Determine the type of feeder you have. Sparrows are ground feeders. Ideally, tube feeders need a tray to attract sparrows. Most trays attach to the bottom of tube feeders and are screwed in place. Platform feeders are best for attracting sparrows.

    • 3

Fill your feeder with the appropriate bird seed. Sparrows have food preferences. White millet seed and sunflower seed are a favorite with sparrows.

    • 4

Scatter seeds on the ground below the feeder. This attracts sparrows on the ground and encourages them to feed from the feeder.
