Instructions
Place your baby macaw in its cage so the bird can grow accustomed to the cage. Baby macaws must eat in their cages, and they must be kept in the cage for at least three hours a day to eat.
Place small dishes of bird pellets, seeds and fresh foods like fruit inside the cage. Add more as the baby macaw eats his way through the food. A macaw will only eat what it needs and is not prone to overeating.
Add a water bottle or water dish to the cage and make sure to refill it daily. The baby macaw will not only drink the water, he will also learn to use it to clean himself.
Lay a sheet over the cage if the baby macaw is screeching too often and not eating from his dishes. This will make the macaw focus on what is inside the cage and will help him become accustomed to eating inside of it.
Consult a veterinarian if you're concerned about your baby macaw's eating habits.
