Instructions for a Frozen Bread Dough Bird Seed Wreath

Create a homemade treat for your backyard buntings and budgies by making them a bird seed wreath out of bread. Using premade frozen bread dough will save you time, since you will not have to mix and knead your own dough, and using different types of bird seed will attract a variety of wild birds to your wreath-shaped feeder. Make several of these as gifts for your fellow bird-lovers so they can enjoy the sounds and sights of birds in their own yards.

Roll the loaf into a long snake shape 2 to 3 feet long.

    • 3

Arrange the bread into a circle on a baking sheet by meeting the two ends together.

    • 4

Cover the dough with a tea towel and let rise for one hour, or until it doubles in size.

    • 5

Heat the oven to 375 degrees F.

    • 6

Remove the towel, and bake the bread in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until baked through.

    • 7

Let the bread cool completely, and spread 1 cup of peanut butter over the entire surface with a spatula.

    • 8

Fill a paper plate with a layer of wild bird seed, and press the peanut butter-covered side of the bread into the bird seed.

    • 9

Tie a string into a loop through the hole in the bird seed wreath, and hang the wreath outside from a tree branch.
