Things You'll Need
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 cups water
- Pot
- Cook stove
- Oriole feeder
- Vinegar
Instructions
Obtain an oriole feeder. These are easily found as they are primarily orange in color and are similar to hummingbird feeders. Because the feeder is orange, you will not need to add food coloring to the oriole food. Clean the oriole feeder before you fill it with new food. Do this with a water and vinegar solution. Rinse thoroughly with warm water before adding new food.
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 1/2 cup sugar (6 parts water to 1 part sugar). Stir until the sugar is fully absorbed.
Remove the water and sugar solution from the heat. Allow it to cool.
Fill the oriole feeder with your homemade nectar. Store the excess in the refrigerator for no longer than two weeks. Replace every few days.
