How to Give a Quaker Parrot a Shower

Quaker parrots, also known as monk parakeets, are sociable, colorful birds. Originally from south eastern South America, Quaker parrots are kept as pets by bird owners. Quaker parrots have bright green feathers that look best when the Quaker parrot is regularly bathed. Quaker parrots enjoy bathing in a shallow bowl of water. However, in nature they also enjoy rainstorms. Giving your Quaker parrot a gentle shower mimics rain, and some parrots enjoy having a shower every day.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a large, shallow bowl with clean water at room temperature.

    • 2

Lay a towel down on your work space before putting your bowl on it. Quaker parrots enjoy splashing.

    • 3

Place your Quaker parrot on the towel, and put your hand in the water to show your parrot what it is for. Wait for your Quaker parrot to enter the water by itself.

    • 4

Fill a water bottle set to mist with clean, room temperature water. Spray the bottle above your Quaker parrot so the mist falls in a shower around it.

    • 5

Stop when your Quaker parrot exits the bath. Clean up your Quaker parrot's bath after putting it back in its cage.
