What does a sandhill crane bird eat?

Sandhill cranes are omnivorous and have a varied diet that includes both plant and animal matter. They primarily feed on insects, such as grasshoppers, beetles, and spiders, as well as small vertebrates such as frogs and lizards. They also consume plant material such as seeds, grains, and berries, and occasionally eat eggs or small mammals. Sandhill cranes obtain their food by probing in the ground with their long bills or by gleaning it from the surface. They are opportunistic feeders and will take advantage of any available food source, including agricultural fields, wetlands, and prairies.
