What do burrowing owls eat?
Burrowing owls are carnivores and their diet consists mainly of small rodents, insects, reptiles, birds, and amphibians. They prey upon pocket gophers, mice, grasshoppers, crickets, beetles, snakes, lizards, and frogs. They may also eat smaller birds and nestling as well as the occasional scorpion. Burrowing owls often hunt during the day, but may also hunt at night or during the early morning or evening.
