Diet: Small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish
Food Chain:
1) Spotted owls prey upon small mammals such as mice, voles, shrews, and squirrels.
2) These small mammals feed on seeds, nuts, fruits, insects, and other small animals.
3) The insects, in turn, feed on plants and decaying organic matter.
4) The plants obtain their energy from the sun through photosynthesis.
5) The decaying organic matter is broken down by bacteria and fungi, releasing nutrients back into the soil.
