What types of food do Pegeregrine Falcons eat?
Peregrine Falcons are carnivorous birds of prey and their diet consists primarily of medium-sized birds. They hunt a variety of birds, including pigeons, doves, ducks, shorebirds, and songbirds. Peregrine Falcons will occasionally also take small mammals, such as rodents and bats, as well as insects and reptiles. The size of their prey depends on the size of the falcon; smaller falcons may feed on smaller birds and invertebrates, while larger falcons are capable of taking larger birds and mammals. In some cases, Peregrine Falcons have been known to take other raptors, such as smaller hawks and kestrels. They typically hunt by flying high in the sky and then stooping (diving at speed) on their prey, striking them with their feet.
