What eats African water lilys?

African water lilies are consumed by a variety of organisms including Hippopotamuses, Manatees, Water Buffalo, Elephant, Fish and a number of Amphibian and Reptile species. Insects such as Water Beetles and Weevils may also consume certain parts of the plant. Notably fish species such as the Tilapia and the African Lungfish actively graze on water lilies and play an important role in population control. Lastly some bird species such as ducks may consume the seeds and other plant parts.
