How do pelicans eat?

Pelicans have a unique way of catching and eating fish. They have a large, pouch-like bill that they use to scoop up water and fish. The water drains out of the bill, while the fish are trapped inside. Pelicans can hold up to 3 gallons of water in their bill at one time.

When a pelican spots a fish, it will dive down and open its bill. The fish is then scooped up into the bill, along with some water. The pelican will then close its bill and lift its head out of the water. The water will drain out of the bill, while the fish is trapped inside.

Pelicans can eat up to 4 pounds of fish per day. They typically eat fish that are about 6 inches long. Pelicans will often eat in flocks, and they will cooperate with each other to catch fish.

Pelicans are not only able to eat fish, but they can also eat other aquatic creatures, such as frogs, snakes, and turtles. They have even been known to eat small birds.
