How does a peregrine falcon get food?
A peregrine falcon gets food through hunting. It is an apex predator that mainly feeds on small to medium-sized birds such as pigeons, doves, and smaller falcons. They also prey on bats and insects. Peregrine falcons have keen eyesight and can spot potential prey from high up in the sky. When they see a target, they dive at incredible speeds, reaching up to 240 kilometers per hour (150 miles per hour) during the stoop, making them the fastest birds in the world. This high-speed dive, known as a "stoop," allows the falcon to capture its prey mid-air. Peregrine falcons use their sharp talons to grab and carry their prey back to their nests or perches to consume it. They typically hunt during the day and store any excess food for later consumption.
