How do lampreys feed?

Lampreys are jawless fish that have a unique feeding mechanism. They have a round, sucker-like mouth with a rasping tongue that they use to attach themselves to their prey. Once attached, they use their tongue to rasp away at the skin and flesh of their prey, creating a wound. They then secrete an anticoagulant to prevent the wound from clotting, and they use their tongue to suck up the blood and body fluids of their prey.

Lampreys are parasitic and feed on a variety of animals, including fish, turtles, and even other lampreys. They are not typically considered to be a threat to humans, but there have been a few cases of lampreys attacking people.
