Can you use soap in bathing a Pigeon?

No, it's not advisable to use soap when bathing a pigeon. Pigeons have a natural oil called preen oil that comes out of the uropygial (preen) gland under their tail feathers, which they spread throughout their feathers while preening. They use it to keep their feathers waterproof , healthy and free from parasites. Pigeons may also bathe themselves in shallow water to clean their plumage. Therefore, there's no need to use any chemical soap or detergent on their feathers, as it may strip off the preen oil and damage their plumage.
