When do a parrots feather start to grow?
Parrot feathers start to grow as soon as the chick hatches. The first feathers to emerge are the down feathers, which are soft and fluffy and help to keep the chick warm. These are gradually replaced by contour feathers, which are the larger, more colourful feathers that give parrots their distinctive appearance. The growth of feathers is a continuous process, and parrots will moult and regrow their feathers throughout their lives.
