Instructions
Observe your parakeets. If you have female and male parakeets, and have seen them mate, be prepared for the egg laying, which will come one to two days later.
Watch your female parakeet. When she is pregnant, she will not look swollen but will fidget and sit on the bottom of the cage. You may see her straining a bit.
Watch your female parakeet for the next day or two and the way she is acting. A parakeet which is about to lay eggs looks for a nest or a comfortable place to lay them. You will find the female parakeet sitting, with the male parakeet observing the female. Once eggs are laid, the female will sit on them for about 18 to 19 days until they hatch.
How to Know If a Parakeet Will Lay an Egg
Parakeets are small birds which people often keep as pets. You may be interested in breeding them, which takes about a month. Once the parakeets mate, the female will start laying eggs one or two days later. Parakeets don't lay the eggs all at once, but usually lay a total of four to nine eggs. They lay an egg every other day.
