Instructions

    • 1

Feed the bird a food mix or pellets specially formulated for conures. When purchasing food, read the labels to see be sure it's suitable for conures. Offer the bird additional treats such as apples, carrots, corn on the cob, endive, dandelions, field greens, grapes, peanuts, peas, spinach, sweet potatoes and watercress. Place a cuttle bone in a separate bowl.

    • 2

Keep the bird's water dish full of fresh clean water at all times. Since conures are notorious for bathing in their water dish, provide an large bowl at the bottom of the cage in where the bird can bathe.

    • 3

House the bird in a cage that is at least 24 by 16 by 20 inches in size. The larger the cage the better --- conures enjoy a roomy environment. Place lots of perches inside the cage so the conure has several places to perch. Clean the cage regularly to keep the parrot's environment clean and healthy. Hang bird toys inside the cage to keep your parrot active during the day and prevent it from getting bored.

Place the bird's cage in a low-traffic area within the home where the bird will not be easily startled or disturbed. The cage should be away from any cold drafts or harmful fumes. When night falls, cover the cage with a large blanket so that the bird can get a restful night's sleep.
