How to Age Your Baby Peacocks

Raising peacocks can be a rewarding hobby. Many consider peacocks the most beautiful of all peafowl. Male peacocks, called peacocks, are renowned for their elaborate plumage train which they use to scare away predators and impress females(peahens). This plumage consumes about 60 percent of the bird's body. The male is one of the largest flying birds. Peacocks live about 20 years in the wild. If you have baby peacocks, you can watch them age properly if you provide them everything they need.

Instructions

    • 1

Keep young chicks indoors. They can start going outside when they have feathers.

    • 2

Set up a brooder lamp. Brooding is the process mother-birds use to keep their chicks warm after hatching.

    • 3

Set the lamp to 95 degrees for newly-hatched chicks.

    • 4

Place the chicks under the lamp.

    • 5

Decrease the temperature of the brooder as the chicks grow feathers. Lower the temperature about 5 degrees every week until the heat is off.

    • 6

      Feed chicks grain or scratch.

    • 7

Mix grains with high protein starter feed.
