Instructions
Listen to the vocalizations that the green singer makes. Both males and females sing, but males sing significantly more often and more melodiously than females.
Inspect the green singer's plumage. Males have gray-green plumage, bright yellow breasts, and yellow stripes on their bodies. While the females have similar coloration, it is much duller.
Look at the bird's throat. Female birds have a line of dark spots around their necks, while males do not. This is not true in the case of juvenile males, which have the line of dark spots until their first molt. Do not use this trait to sex birds that are very young.
How Do I Know if a Green Singer Finch Is Male or Female?
Green singer finches are also known as green singing finches and yellow-eyed canaries. They are small birds that are simple to keep as pets. Green singers are widely available at pet stores and breeders. If you wish to breed green singers, or even if you simply wish to know whether you have a male or a female, learn to sex these small birds.
