Instructions
Choose the proper bird cage. It must be large enough for your bird to spread its wings and take short flights. Horizontal bars are needed for birds that like to climb.
Purchase accessories to add to your bird cage. Plastic or metal dishes are needed for food and water. Wood perches should be placed in the cage to provide your bird with a place to rest.
Place the bird cage in a warm and draft-free area. The area should be well-lit but not in direct sunlight.
Feed your bird a variety of seeds, fresh fruits and vegetables, depending on their recommended diet. Calcium blocks also should be used to provide your bird with essential minerals.
Provide fresh, clean water for your bird. Change the water daily.
Put a bowl of water in the cage. This is where your bird will bathe.
Line the bottom of the bird cage with newspaper or cage liner. Change the liner at least once a week.
Place toys, such as ladders, mirrors and bells in the bird cage. This is a source of fun and exercise for your pet.
