Is a royal penguin prey or predator?

The royal penguin (Eudyptes schlegeli) is both a predator and prey. As predators, they mainly feed on fish, squid, and krill. They hunt by diving into the water and using their sharp beaks to catch their prey. As prey, they are hunted by larger marine animals such as seals, killer whales, and leopard seals. To protect themselves, royal penguins live in large colonies and often engage in mobbing behaviour to deter predators.
