Who is federigos falcon?

Federigo's Falcon is a short story written by Giovanni Boccaccio (c. 1313–1375) in his Decameron. It's the fifth tale of the fifth day.

The story is set in medieval Florence, Italy, and tells the tale of a wealthy young man named Federigo, who is in love with a beautiful woman named Giovanna, who is of higher social status than Federigo. Federigo does everything in his power to convince Giovanna of his love, even spending all his money on lavish gifts and organizing extravagant parties in her honor. Despite all his efforts, Giovanna never reciprocates his feelings, which causes him significant emotional pain.

One day, Giovanna and her friends decide to visit Federigo's estate. When they arrive, they discover that Federigo has very little food to offer them, as he had spent all his money on wooing Giovanna. However, Federigo is determined to make his guests feel welcome, so he kills his prized hunting falcon and serves it to them.

Giovanna is impressed by Federigo's gesture and finally opens her heart to him, expressing her mutual feelings. They get married and live happily ever after.

The moral of the story is that true love is not measured by material wealth, but by one's willingness to sacrifice and make compromises. Federigo's extreme lengths to show Giovanna his love ultimately win her over, highlighting the power of genuine devotion.
