Did all ducks evolve from mallard ducks?

Not all ducks evolved from mallard ducks. Although mallards are the most common species of duck, there are many other species that have evolved from different ancestors. For example, the northern shoveler is thought to have evolved from the gadwall, while the American wigeon is thought to have evolved from the Eurasian wigeon.
