Is the California condor a keystone species?

The California condor is not considered a keystone species, as its removal from the ecosystem or its decline in numbers would not necessarily cause a cascading effect on other species and alter the entire ecosystem. While the condor plays an important ecological role as a scavenger, with its large wingspan and ability to cover vast distances, it is not considered a pivotal or central species upon which the survival or coexistence of a large number of other species depend in a particular ecosystem.
