Eagles are a type of bird of prey that are known for their powerful flight. Although they are a diverse group, with different species having different flight patterns, they are generally considered to be soaring birds. This means that they use the lift generated by their wings to stay in the air, rather than flapping their wings continuously as some other birds do.
However, eagles can also flap their wings to gain speed or to change direction. On average, an eagle flaps its wings about 2-4 times per second during slow, soaring flight, but can reach up to 8-10 wing beats per second during faster flight or when carrying heavy loads.
