Do hawks nest in last years nest?
Hawks may reuse nests from previous years, but it isn't always the case. Some species of hawks, such as red-tailed hawks, are known to build new nests each year or may reuse the nest for up to three seasons before building a new one. Other hawk species, like Cooper's hawks and sharp-shinned hawks, typically construct a new nest each breeding season. Factors such as the availability of suitable nesting sites, weather conditions, and disturbances to the nest can influence whether hawks reuse old nests or build new ones.
