Why are bald eagles going extinct?

Bald eagles are not going extinct. In fact, their populations are steadily increasing.

In 1963, there were only 417 bald eagle nests in the contiguous United States. By 2019, that number had grown to over 70,000.

This population increase is due to several factors, including the banning of DDT, the pesticide that was thinning bald eagles' eggshells, and the restoration of bald eagle habitat.

Bald eagles are not considered a threatened or endangered species.
