How to Settle Down Pigeons

For many people, pigeons are more than dirty birds of city streets. Some enjoy racing homing pigeons or simply keeping a coop. Either way, pigeons can be entertaining and relaxing pets. Just like all pets, it is important to build a relationship with your animal to make calming them down easier in stressful situations.

Instructions

Try to lure a panicked pigeon to you by holding safflower seeds or peanuts in your hands. To ensure that these types of seeds are seen as treats, it is best to only feed a few of these to a pigeon at one time. If you have a good relationship with your bird, eating from your hand may calm it down right away.

Begin to pet the pigeon gently on the back. Just like many pets, hostile pigeons will often calm down immediately if they are shown such affection.

Talk to your pigeons. Although pigeons do not understand what you are saying, they will understand a calming voice and personal attention.
