Instructions
Cut four 1-inch by 12-inch by 2-foot wooden planks using a table saw. Cut two 1-foot by 1-foot boards using a table saw.
Stand two wooden planks parallel with each other lengthwise. Place one wooden plank on top of the two standing wooden planks. That makes an inverted "U" shape. Screw deck screws through the top wooden plank using a power drill. The screws penetrate the top plank into the edges of the two side wooden planks.
Flip the U-shaped structure over. Place one plank flat on top of the side planks. That makes a rectangular shape. Screw through the flat plank into the edges of the side planks.
Take one of the 1-by-1 boards and place it on the top of the rectangular structure. Screw the board into edges of the structure. That makes the roof of the duck nest.
Invert the structure. Take one of the 1-by-1 boards and place it on the top of the rectangular structure. Screw the board into edges of the structure. That makes the floor of the duck nest.
Drill a 5-inch hole into the center of one of the sides of the rectangular structure. Use a power saw and 5-inch circular drill bit. That makes the opening for the duck nest.
Paint the exterior of the duck nest with waterproof stain using a brush. Let the stain dry for one day.
Drill 6 holes in the floor of the duck nest using a power drill and 1/4-inch drill bit. Fill the inside of the box with a 2-inch layer of wood mulch.
