Instructions
Walk around your yard at various times throughout the day. Choose an area that has good exposure to the sun in the morning or evening. Mark the area.
Measure a section of the area that is 6 feet long and 3 feet deep. Mark the outline of the area with the spray paint.
Level the area with the shovel, removing any unnecessary dirt to a separate location. Use the level throughout the digging process to make sure all areas are completely level.
Measure and cut two pieces of 2 by 2 pine lumber which are 6 feet long. Measure and cut two more pieces of the 2 by 2 lumber which are 3 feet long. Cut the lumber with a saw.
Lay the lumber out in a rectangle shape with the two longer pieces on the sides and the two shorter pieces on the ends. Secure the ends of each piece together with wood screws and a drill.
Place the rectangle inside the measured, leveled area. Pour the concrete into the wooden rectangle and allow the concrete to dry overnight.
Repeat Steps 4-5 to make two rectangles. Lay one rectangle on top of the concrete pad.
Measure and cut six pieces of the 2 by 2 lumber which are 6 feet long. Secure four pieces in a vertical position at each of the four corners of the wooden rectangle on the concrete pad. Position the second two pieces on the front and back of the enclosure at the 3-foot mark. Place the second rectangle on top of the six supports and secure with screws.
Measure and cut two pieces of the 2 by 2 lumber which are 32 inches long. Cut four pieces of the 2 by 2 lumber which are 33 inches long. Position the first two pieces on the edges of the cage in a horizontal position approximately 34 inches off of the ground. Secure the edges with screws. Position the other four pieces of lumber on the front and back of the cage between the supports. The pieces should be horizontally positioned approximately 34 inches off the ground. Secure the edges with screws.
Cut two pieces of lumber which are 30 inches long. Cut three more pieces which are 32 inches long. Assemble two of the short pieces and one of the long pieces together to form a rectangle. Secure with screws. This small rectangle will be the door to the aviary.
Position the door in the desired location, ensuring that one edge is adjacent to one of the support beams. Attach two hinges to the side of the door and the adjacent support beam. Secure the other long piece cut in Step 10 to the bottom of the aviary and the horizontal support beam above the door with screws. Attach an eye to the support piece and the hook to the adjacent edge of the door.
Measure and cut two pieces of wire mesh which measure 6 feet high and 6 feet wide. Attach these two pieces of mesh to the front and back of the aviary using the staple gun and staples. Secure the mesh to the frame of the door and the surrounding supports. Cut two pieces of wire mesh which are 6 feet high and 3 feet wide. Attach these two pieces to the sides of the aviary. Cut around the edge of the door with the wire cutters.
Measure and cut a 4-foot-wide and 7-foot-long piece of metal roofing with the metal shears. Center the roofing on top of the aviary and secure the roofing to the aviary with screws.
