Instructions

    • 1

Rinse an empty wine bottle with hot water and dish washing soap to get rid of any sediments or dirt.

    • 2

Fill the wine bottle with hummingbird feeding solution. You can purchase this solution at your local pet store.

    • 3

Insert a hummingbird feeder tube into the opening of the wine bottle. Hummingbird feeder tubes can be purchased online or at your local pet store.

    • 4

Place one or two red ribbons around the wine bottle. Hummingbirds are attracted to bright red flowers. The red ribbon will help attract the hummingbirds. The color red also helps repel bees.

    • 5

Place the wine bottle in a bicycle water bottle cage, or use a wine bottle holder that allows the opening of the bottle to tilt downward so the hummingbird will have access to the feeder tube.

    • 6

Put your wine bottle holder outdoors on a table or other flat surface. Place the feeder near flowers where hummingbirds are to be found. If you're using a bicycle bottle holder, hang the feeder from a deck or porch near flowers. You can also hang the wine bottle from a decorative coat rack placed in a flowerbed; the coat rack will also give hummingbirds a safe place to to perch so they can rest.
