How to Make a Wooden Bird House Pole System

Commercially available bird house pole systems are made of metal. They have multiple arms from which you can hang feeders and bird houses. However, you can make your own out of wood using a 4 by 4 post for the pole and attaching metal plant hangers on the four sides. Bird houses and feeders meant for hanging will hang from a plant hanger as well as from any metal hook.

Instructions

    • 1

Mount plant hangers onto the sides of the 4 x 4 post near the top using wood screws. Place the screws through the holes in the plant hangers and screw them directly into the wooden post.

    • 2

Dig a hole at least 18 inches deep. Fill it with wet concrete. Mix the concrete according to the directions on the sack.

    • 3

Place the post in the wet concrete. Prop it upright, if necessary, so it'll set in the concrete standing straight. Once the concrete has set, your wooden bird house pole system is ready for use.

    • 4

Hang bird houses and feeders from the hooked end of the plant hangers.
