The plant's leaves are specially adapted for trapping insects. They have two hinged lobes lined with tiny trigger hairs. When an insect touches one of these trigger hairs, the lobes snap shut, trapping the insect inside. The edges of the leaves then grow inward, forming a sealed chamber. The insect is unable to escape and is eventually digested by the plant's enzymes.
