Do birds that lay multiple eggs fertilise each one separately?

Yes, most birds mate before laying any eggs. Once mating has occurred, sperm produced by the male travels to the oviduct and wait while several yolks move down. As each yolk passes this storage area of sperm some fertilisation occurs and a shell is also developed around them all separately.
