Where can wind be found?

* Near the Earth's surface: Wind is caused by the uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the sun. As the air near the ground heats up, it rises, creating a lower-pressure area. Colder air from the surrounding area then moves in to fill the void, creating wind.

* At high altitudes: The jet stream is a fast-moving river of air that flows high above the Earth's surface. The jet stream is caused by the temperature difference between the tropics and the poles.

* In space: The solar wind is a stream of charged particles that flows outward from the sun. The solar wind is caused by the sun's intense heat and magnetic field.
