Pterosaurs: Pterosaurs were flying reptiles that lived during the Mesozoic Era. They were the largest flying animals of all time, with some species having wingspans of over 30 feet. Pterosaurs included a variety of species, from the long-tailed Rhamphorhynchus to the short-tailed Pteranodon.
Marine reptiles: The Mesozoic Era was also home to a variety of marine reptiles, including mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, and ichthyosaurs. Mosasaurs were giant, predatory lizards that lived in the oceans. Plesiosaurs were long-necked, swimming reptiles that resembled modern-day seals. Ichthyosaurs were fish-like reptiles that were the fastest swimmers of their time.
Mammals: Mammals first appeared during the Mesozoic Era, but they were small and relatively insignificant compared to the dinosaurs. Some of the early mammals included multituberculates, early forms of marsupials, and early forms of placental mammals.
Birds: Birds evolved from small, feathered dinosaurs during the Mesozoic Era. The earliest birds were likely small, ground-dwelling animals that fed on insects. Over time, birds developed the ability to fly and became one of the most successful groups of animals on Earth.
