What is the difference between a buzzard and turkey buzzard?

There are no zoological or ornithological species named "buzzard". The common name "buzzard" is applied to a various different species of birds of prey depending on the region and the bird of prey in question. In North America, the term is used to refer to the Red-tailed Hawk, as well as to vultures. Outside of North America, the names "Common Buzzard" and "Eurasian Buzzard" are used to describe the Common Buzzard, a bird of prey.

The term "turkey buzzard" is used to describe the Turkey Vulture, a species of vulture found in North America.
