Who are pigeons enemies?

* Peregrine falcons. These fast-flying predators are responsible for killing more pigeons than any other species. Peregrine falcons can fly at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, and they have sharp talons that they use to grab their prey.

* Cooper's hawks. These smaller hawks are also predators of pigeons. Cooper's hawks typically hunt from perches, and they swoop down on their prey when they spot it.

* Great horned owls. These large owls are nocturnal hunters, and they often prey on pigeons that are roosting in trees. Great horned owls have excellent eyesight and hearing, and they can catch pigeons even in complete darkness.

* Cats. Domestic cats and feral cats both kill pigeons. Cats are attracted to pigeons because they are small, easy to catch, and provide a good source of food.

* Rats. Rats are opportunistic predators, and they will kill pigeons if they have the chance. Rats are often found in the same environments as pigeons, and they may compete with pigeons for food and shelter.

* Humans. Humans are the most significant predators of pigeons. Pigeons are often hunted for food, sport, and pest control. Humans also kill pigeons by accident when they drive cars or build structures.
