Stage 1: Chicks/Nest life:
- After laying, parrots' eggs are incubated for around 2-4 weeks(depending on the species).
- After hatching, chicks are completely dependent on their parents for food and protection.
- Chicks stay in the nest for several months, growing rapidly, gradually developing feathers, and learning from their parents.
Stage 2: Fledgling stage:
- Fledglings are baby birds who are preparing to fly.
- During this phase, young birds will test their wings and take short flights.
- The parents continue to provide food and protection but they begin teaching the fledgling how to find food on their own.
Stage 3: Juvenile stage:
- At this point, young parrots are almost full grown and become independent.
- They become stronger and more experienced foragers and can travel longer distances.
- These young birds start taking on adult plumage colouration.
Stage 4: Adulthood:
- Parrots reach sexual maturity at different ages, depending on the species.
- At this point, parrots are physically mature and can reproduce.
- Adult parrots take on adult responsibilities, like finding a mate, building a nest, and raising young.
